Looking forward to improve for the cows and guests
Although we feel very fortunate to have such a large and comfortable space for the cows and bulls to lounge and access their feed, some improvements are needed. The path between the lounge and barn is susceptible to becoming muddy and freezing unevenly, making the passage difficult to traverse. The feed area is adequate but older divider walls are prone to breaking from the force of the bulls and need redesigning to reduce hay waste.
For a more complete experience for young visitors, a cabin would be a great addition to the farm and perhaps the first of a few similar accommodations. This bunkie-style 9’ x 15’ room could include a living area, bedroom mezzanine, heating, compost toilet and warm camp shower for a perfect blend of simplicity and comfort.
One day we would love to offer the public the opportunity to come and cuddle, brush, and have a heart to heart with our sweethearts in a clean, dry and safe enclosure, protected from the rain and wind. We have a perfect site picked out in the heart of the farm, tucked away in a private sumac grove, with views over the pastures and garden. Much like the cows’ and bulls’ large lounge this shelter will have two windbreak walls, a high roof and natural straw bedding and harmonize with its natural setting.
