After years of trying for a Kṛṣṇa conscious, self sufficient homestead lifestyle we would like to share some lessons and experiences to give today’s youth a head start.

Help train the youth!

We are hoping that one day we will be able to host the youth of our family, friends and spiritual community for life-changing experiences at the farm with the cows, crops and natural beauty. We hope to inspire them to consider the value of a rural lifestyle and to give them the skills and knowledge to get started. We need your help to make this a reality. We are not there yet.

  • A day trip can include a weekend day to take part in some of the seasonal activities in the garden, pasture or barn and some chanting with a delicious meal.

  • (Accommodations permitting)

A weekend or a weeklong trip will give a more complete experience of the daily cycle of events on the farm by taking part in milking, cow care, and seasonal bull work, gardening and food processing. The young guests can take part in our morning and evening bhakti yoga home program of chanting and hearing from the authentic Kṛṣṇa conscious texts.

  • (Accommodations permitting)

Getting the complete farm life experience is possible by staying with us for a few weeks or a full season. On top of the full range of farm activities, the youth can take part in farmers’ markets and explore with us the business opportunities that living on a farm can afford them. They will also benefit from a deeper immersion into the culture and science of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Hoping to build accommodations!

To host selected visitors for overnight stays, accommodations similar to this simple cabin are needed.

Varnasrama College

Our learning experiences for small scale farmers, engaged in cow protection and trade, is a small part of a broader college concept as envisioned by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Srila Prabhupada. He wanted a learning center to create saintly teachers of society and martially spirited administrative men as well. In this college he called for adolescents and young adults to be given the opportunity to develop meaningful occupations tailored to their specific natures, all the while being prepared for spiritual development and devotion to God (Kṛṣṇa) through life’s principal stages. In our own modest way we are trying to contribute to the big picture.

It takes a village.

To create an alternative to the chaotic, present day society, model villages centered on spiritual development and harmony between men and women of distinct occupations and natures demonstrating ideal life, not idle life, is of utmost importance. We suggest it can be achieved through these farm-based training grounds in three steps.

  • Time-tested methods of training in four occupations are researched and applied in practice. Respectable livelihoods are discovered and simple and dignified living standards are developed to complement each occupation.

  • As practices are perfected, learning experiences are made available for new participants. Guidance in earning a livelihood through newly acquired skills is given.

  • As people become expert and independent in their respective occupations, and their distinctive characters are refined, the opportunity for peaceful cooperation between individuals is manifest and a happy, healthy societal body is constituted in the form of a small village. With a collective aim to please the Supreme Lord, Sri Krsna, everyone is set on an accelerated path back home, back to Godhead.
